This is a complete review of Get Known Get Clients, a six-month business development program created, sold and delivered by Selena Soo. The review is comprehensive, so that means a fairly wordy blog post. I would like to share with you my perspective on the program, my opinion of what will make it right for you, and how to get the most from the program

In Get Known Get Clients Selena Soo has created an incredibly dense guide to establishing your business in the right way. The course helps coaches, solo-preneurs, and consultants better understand how they must begin to consider their marketplace, their target customers, their business development prioritization, and the manner in which they build and nurture their professional network. The course is both broad and deep, and it provides a reliable formula to follow that will help you to improve your focus and get serious about how you are executing.

The course is part strategy, part tactical operations, and part selling tutorial. Successful completion of the course will advance your capabilities in all of these areas, exploit both your strengths and weaknesses and above all expose the areas of business necessity that you naturally shy away from.

Is Get Known Get Clients Right For You?
I honestly forget how Selena markets the course, but having completed the course, I can tell you who I believe it will benefit. Here are some of the people that I think will get the most from the course.

Coaches and Solopreneurs: The course is decidedly targeted towards the cottage industry of personal service and business service coaches. (think lifestyle coaches, branding coaches, health and fitness coaches, as well as related services like photography, digital marketing, and design). I have to admit I did not even know this industry existed. It is huge and Get Known Get Clients speaks the language of the industry. So if you are a coach of some sort the fit is perfect. There are more qualifiers for you to consider, but this is the first no-brainer. You’re a coach? You provide coaching-related services and are a team of one? Get Known Get Clients will help you.

Business consultants: Those that target their services to not only individuals but to businesses and/or focus on providing decidedly business focused support will absolutely gain from GKGC. Marketing strategists, sales consultants, business operations experts and the like will all find insight and value from Get Known Get Clients. In fact, professionals in these types of practices will not just gain value but are likely to unlock the more personal and intimate element of what they provide that will help to increase awareness about their practice and better connect with those they see to serve.

One Small Consideration For Those Selling their Services in a Business to Business Model:  If you sell a service to businesses Get Known Get Clients will work for you, BUT you have to know going in that you might have to do a little bit of mental translation of the coaching industry language.  This will help you to better apply what you are learning to your specific selling situation. I found this very frustrating at first because some of the topics seemed not to apply to me at all. For instance, affiliate links were not something that I had ever considered nor thought applicable to what I was doing. My frustration level was so high at first that I considered executing my 60-day money back guarantee.

I expressed as much to Selena and her team members, and they spent time chatting with me about it and with their support and attention I decided to stay enrolled in the course. Once I got used to distilling the language being used in the course to what I know about my market my frustration dissipated. If you are not in the coaching industry, I would suggest you do just a little bit of research to see what it is all about. This will help you prepare for how the information is shared in Get Known Get Clients, and help you to better determine if learning that business model applies to your business model.

All of that said I think it is absolutely right for those selling B2B, and everything you learn will be applicable. My review of Get known Get Clients as one who sells B2B is that it focuses on teaching fundamentals applicable to just about any service oriented business. (NOTE: I think it applicable to product as well, but there is not as much of a deep dive on the nuance of product pricing as it pertains to selling a physical product)

Types of Scenarios That Make Get Known Get Clients Right for you.

If you have been at it for a while and are at a plateau and can’t seem to figure out how to jump-start growth, you will get much from Get Known Get Clients. New ideas, new ways to network, new service lines to explore.

If your service business is on the side and you want it to grow, I think Get Known Get Clients is a perfect fit. The process is detailed and deliberate with very actionable suggestions. Your ‘side hustle’ will gain both focus and discipline and help you to methodically target a point where your side gig can become your main gig.

There will be some of what you learn in Get Known Get Clients that isn’t necessarily new to you. That was certainly the case for me, and I believe that this factor more than any other was the most valuable. I would consider the course similar to going to a golf coach after you have been playing the game for a while and are finally ready to take the game seriously. The Golf coach might not be bringing to you new ideas, but she does something more important. She tells you the right way to put the pieces of a golf swing together, the importance of each, how to evaluate if your mechanics are sounds, and offers you the best way to practice. This is what Get Known Get Clients is all about. Teaching you the most effective swing for your business game.

When you are done with the course you will have a completely changed manner of how you conduct your day, you will be able to better evaluate the fruit of your daily labor, and you will gain greater mastery over the keys to helping your business grow. You will not be a scratch golfer immediately, but Get Known Get Clients gives you the instruction and the tools to be on your way.

Getting the Most Out of the Program

There are two very important factors that will help you get the most of out of Get Known Get Clients.

ONE: Do the work.

TWO: Get out of your comfort zone.

There is homework in every module that you will receive, but you are solely accountable. You HAVE to do the homework at least at the level that Selena suggests. So if she says to get 15 market research calls under your belt then get 15 calls. At least! Not only will this have the impact intended of the module, but it will help you create discipline of execution in the right areas.

Getting Out Of Your Comfort Zone
Be prepared to have your weaknesses exposed in a way that will not allow you to run from them. No matter what it is, writing, selling, networking, speaking, branding, etc. and so on. If you are uncomfortable doing it, you are going to have to fight through that discomfort.

The Power of the Get Known Get Clients Facebook Group
Your Get Known Get Clients course will have a closed Facebook group, and the group activity may be one of the most valuable elements of the program. Not everyone in the course will participate, but between 45% and 65% will participate at some level. Moreover, these opportunities to connect, build relationship with fellow entrepreneurs is incredibly valuable. You will get shared insight, ideas, and quite a bit of encouragement. The group lasts beyond the course, so these are connections that you are likely going to be able to hold close for the rest of your career if you choose to do so. In my opinion, the group is a huge selling point of the program.

I do not think a review of Get Known Get Clients would be complete without taking a quick look at what you learn. Here is a breakdown of each module and what to expect.

Who are you selling to: This module focuses on doing market research to determine not just who youreview-of-get-known-get-clients are selling to but what is most on their mind. It requires market research calls to those that fit the profile of your target customer.

Creating Your Valuable Offerings: An exercise in packaging and pricing. How will you make it easy for your clients to understand how they should be buying and what is the right price point, to begin with.

Time to Get Clients: Selena moves you into a sales position swiftly. You will certainly tweak your offerings and price along the way, but this module focuses in on how you get people talking to you and how to turn those conversations into sales opportunities.

Developing your Referral Partner Network: Perfecting how you methodically are connecting with your network and methods to use that will expand it. A recipe for tactically creating smart and useful (to your targets) outreach that can be optimized for more revenue opportunities.

Personal Branding: Placing focus on establishing your brand identify in a way that pushes you to clearly and easily communicate what it is that you are all about. A very effective part of GKGC that will give you the level of communication consistency that you are probably lacking today.

Speak to Sell: At this point in the course, the modules begin to become much more dependent on the modules that preceded them. This one focuses on creating a talk that you can pitch to events locally and nationally. However, if the work was not done on your messaging, branding and packaging you will struggle here.

List Building Foundations: The blocking and tackling of turning your marketplace awareness, digital traffic, and personal networking into a measurable and useful list of contacts. The key here is developing the ‘free offer’ that you will use wherever you are present to get people signed up to your email list.

How to Build Meaningful Relationships with VIPs and Influencers: Selena gives you an inside look at the world in which well-traveled and highly popular influencers live. She is one herself and she is brutally candid with the common mistakes that are made that will, at worst, annoy the influencer.

Create Your Email Launch Copy: Towards the end of the course the modules take on a distinctly ‘info-product’ feel. You are, after all, the customer of an info-product in GKGC. If you have no intent on launching an info product you might not gain as much value here unless you are willing to do the mental work to translate what you learn to your business model.

How to Build an Amazing Team to Help You Grow Your Business: When and how to add administrative help to your effort.

The Entrepreneur’s Success Formula: A last final live call to share lessons learned and success earned.

Along the way: During the course, you will have one live Q&A call a month and a handful of specialty calls on topics such as branding or copywriting. I found the Q&A calls to be one of my favorite parts of the class. Selena is a bright business mind, and she will take as much time as you need to listen to your question and actively work through it. You will be on the call with the entire class, and it will be to your benefit to listen in to all the answers because you’re likely to gain value there as well.
